Pay attention to your breathing in order to stay present with the moment at hand. 2) Take ten deep breaths when you're feeling overwhelmed by stress or anxious thoughts - this will help to calm down your body's "fight-or-flight" responses and bring it back into balance with the natural world around you. 3) Get to know yourself, and do whatever it takes to help you pay attention to your inner voice rather than the external influences you experience. 4) Do something to make yourself feel better when you're feeling anxious or stressed, like taking a walk or listening to music. 5) Practice mindfulness by letting go of judgments, criticism, and self-judgment about what's happening. See these thoughts as the anxious thoughts that they are - they aren't real. See them for what they are: part of your imagination that's based on past experiences and beliefs - not necessarily the truth. Trust that things will get better when you stay present with your thoughts and feelings without getting caught up in them. 6) Don't give up if one strategy doesn't work. Try different ways of dealing with the anxious thoughts, like exercising or listening to music. 7) Get to know your body, your mind, and your thoughts. Learn how to stay present with the moment you are in rather than worrying about what might happen in the future. 8) Make peace with the past while staying grounded in the present moment - pay attention to what's happening right now while letting go of judgments about what happened in the past or might happen in the future. 9) See the whole world as being in a state of cyclical change, and that this cycle is a part of a conscious plan. 10) Take responsibility for your own thoughts and for your own feelings - don't take responsibility for anyone else's thoughts or feelings. Don't let other people make you feel responsible for them. Identify with awareness and compassion with yourself, not with how you feel as a result of what others do or don't do. 11) Make peace with sadness rather than feeling guilty about it, because it is natural to experience sadness from time to time. Let it flow through you and know that everything is impermanent. Be with it and try to enjoy the energy of sadness as a whole experience rather than focusing on the way you feel about it. 12) Make peace with your mind - don't let what you think about yourself or the world control your feelings and behavior. 13) Meditate! A regular meditation practice can be very helpful in learning how to deal with anxiety and stress. 14) Learn some self-hypnosis exercises, which can also help to manage anxiety and stress.
